About this position
Reporting to the Principal of Educational Services, and working alongside the Indigenous Education Team, the Indigenous Registered Psychologist/Psychological Associate provides a comprehensive psychological service to Board Staff, Indigenous students and caregivers, and facilitates liaison with community agencies that support Indigenous families.
As a member of the Indigenous Education and Educational Services Teams, you will conduct individual psycho-educational assessments of Indigenous students who are experiencing difficulty within the school setting and investigate possible diagnosis and formulate/generate recommendations and next steps for students with special education and/or mental health needs.
In addition, you will work in collaboration with in-school teams to provide comprehensive clinical consultations and brief mental health and psycho-educational interventions for Indigenous students.
As a Registered Psychologist or Psychological Associate you will also provide crisis and suicide intervention support as well as assist in the development and implementation of early intervention and preventative programs for Indigenous individuals and groups. Additionally, you may be called upon to support district-wide initiatives, including professional development for school staff and support.
