About this position

Reporting to the Principal of Educational Services, the Registered Psychologist/Psychological Associate provides a comprehensive psychological service to Board Staff, students and parents, and facilitates liaison with families and community agencies.

As a member of the Educational Services Team, you will conduct individual psycho-educational assessments of students who are experiencing difficulty within the school setting and investigate possible diagnosis and formulate/generate recommendations and next steps for students with special education and/or mental health needs.

In addition, you will work in collaboration with in-school teams to provide comprehensive clinical consultations and brief mental health and psycho-educational interventions.

As a Registered Psychologist or Psychological Associate you will also provide crisis and suicide intervention support as well as assist in the development and implementation of early intervention and preventative programs for individuals and groups. Additionally, you will be called upon to support district-wide initiatives, including professional development for school staff and support.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Participate in professional development opportunities (eg., PA Days, Staff Meetings, Affinity Meetings, etc.)
  • Provide professional learning to board employees and/or community agencies, as requested
  • Collect and record data
  • Collaborate with in school teams, caregivers, community partners and students
  • Participate in the Community Violent Threat Risk Assessment Process
  • Participate in the Suicide Response Protocol
  • Participate in Board and community committees when requested
  • Maintain professional records in compliance the regulatory body
  • Demonstrate experience and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Become knowledgeable about school board policies and administrative procedures
  • Provide support to school personnel and students in the aftermath of a crisis and/or traumatic event
Qualifications, knowledge, and experience
  • Doctoral or Master Degree in Psychology and current registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in good standing or eligibility for registration
  • Experience and background in the areas of diagnostic assessment, crisis management/intervention and consulting
  • Experience and background in clinical interviewing, administration and interpretation of standardized cognitive, academic and social/emotional measures (eg., WISC, WIAT)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Must have the ability to travel to schools throughout the Limestone District School Board, at times to multiple locations within a day
  • The Limestone DSB will consider Doctoral Level Graduates who are eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists in the area of School Psychology and are working towards certification.
